Ceramic Tile Countertop versus Laminate Countertop?

We have outdated tile countertops in the kitchen now (the 4" x 4" tiles). YUCK! We are going to redo the countertops along with install new flooring (ceramic tile on floor). A male real estate agent said he would do ceramic tile countertops instead of laminate. However, there is the new laminate countertops which look like granite and they are scratch and stain resistant. I would like the opinion of others on this subject. Which would you prefer if purchasing a house...new nice laminate countertops or ceramic tile countertops matching the floors in the kitchen?
