on ovulation day to conceive a baby boy, days before ovulation to concieve baby girl?

im trying to conceive. if i have everyother day until day suppose to have period will i def get pregnant? also had an ovarian cyst 8 months ago, will i still be bale to get prego? is it true to conceive a baby girl i need to have days before ovulation and not on ovulation day? if u have on ovulation test will you conceive a baby boy? please let me know.
