How do I get rid of this terrible taste/smell in my mouth?

I've had an unnamed virus since Sunday that makes pus pockets in my throat and makes it really sore, plus I have slight drainage and a stuffed up nose. I'm sorta recovering right now but I have a HORRIBLE taste in the back of my throat and it can't be covered up at all. It sucks sucks sucks!! How can I make it go away? Or how long will it last? Any medication? Thanks!
